Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
I am currently an out-of-network provider for all PPO insurances. I can provide you with a monthly invoice called a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for possible partial reimbursement. Please contact your insurance company to inquire about your out-of-network mental/behavioral health benefits. I am also in-network with Lyra, which is part of an Employee Assistance Program. I also accept some Kaiser of Southern California plans.
What is your rate for therapy services?
My full fee is $190 for a 50 minute session. I offer a sliding scale based on availability and need. I accept all major credit cards, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Spending Accounts (HSA), which you can input through the HIPPA compliant online portal. I also accept checks as an option for in-person sessions.
Are you offering in-person counseling services?
Yes, I am offering in-person sessions in my Long Beach office as well as teletherapy services via zoom.
In addition to moms and young adults, do you provide services to any adult with anxiety or trauma? Do you treat depression as well?
Yes, in addition to my mom and young adult specializations, I do provide services to any adult who is experiencing anxiety, OCD, trauma and/or depression.
Do you see clients outside of your anxiety, OCD, tics/tourette and trauma specializations?
I have 15 years of experience treating a variety of different mental health challenges. I often also treat clients with depression as it is common amongst people who have anxiety, OCD, tics or trauma symptoms. Many of the kids and teens often have other emotional and behavioral symptoms that may be masking childhood anxiety and/or depression. If you or your child’s challenges fall outside of my listed specialties, feel free to set-up a free 15 minute consultation to discuss how I might be able to help. If I am not a good match, I am happy to give you referrals to get you connected to the right therapist for you or your child.
What is the process for beginning services?
Once you submit the consultation form on my contact page, text or call, we will have a free 15 minute consultation via phone to determine if I am the right fit for you or your child. If you are seeking services for your teenager, I am happy to also set-up a separate consultation with your teenager. If you and I both agree that I am a good fit, and you would like to proceed, then we will will schedule an initial evaluation appointment. I will send you intake paperwork to complete through the secure online portal to be completed within 72 hours of receiving it, or at least 24 hours before our 1st initial evaluation session, whichever comes first.
How do you keep my records or my child’s records secure?
I use a HIPAA compliant, encrypted and secure electronic health record system. There is also a secure and encrypted messenger system within the portal that can be used for us to send and receive messages.
What is a good faith estimate?
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
